Every working parents challenge: What can I cook quickly that doesn't have a million artificial ingredients or worse, a billion calories...
Today's masterchef special is chicken fillets with philladelphia (cut open, stick in some philly, wrap in tin foil and stick in oven). Mashed potatoes and veggies.
I know, I know, not very exciting but I will get more creative as the week goes on, Italian meatballs tomorrow and curry the next day.
Sometimes I wish I could go back to my student diet of crisps, chocolate, beer and chip butties..... maybe when John's in bed we'll have a pig out :-)
When you've been pooped on, thrown up on, screamed at, woken at 3am and still have to go to an office and try not to cry into your coffee you're an overworked mammy.

Famous
The fame is going to my head, any day now I'm going to be whisked off to Hollywood.
My bookclub has been featured on the Bord Gais Bookclub website: http://www.bordgaisenergybookclub.ie/category/book-clubs/
We're waiting eagerly for our Goodie Bag which should be here next week, great stuff.

Devastated
I'm devastated, my iPhone went for a swim in the toilet and now it's not working.
Since I can't afford a new one I'm going to have to revert to a simpler time when I didn't have a phone.
My fingers are starting to twitch already from lack of text messaging. I haven't checked in on Facebook in a couple of hours so my gossip sensors are dehydrating.
How am I going to time my walk this evening without my built in pedometer? Or worse, if I lose something under my bed then how will I find it without my iTorch?
Oh no, what if I get lost and can't find my way out without looking up the directions on my phone? Or if I need to convert pounds to kilos?
OH MY GOD, how will I get out of bed without my iPhone Alarm Clock?
I'm going to get into bed, pull my duvet over my head and stay there. It's the only solution.

I will not be Bridezilla
Wedding plans are in full swing. Church booked, Priest booked, Venue booked, Band booked, DJ booked, Photographer booked.
I'm still pretty laid-back about the whole thing, just waiting for my inner Bridezilla to raise her ugly head and start screaming about colours and flowers and candles.... The horror!

Quack Quack
My little boy loves feeding the ducks. His little face lights up when he sees them, it's so cute.
Today there were swans, ducks and seagulls in our local pond and John had a big bag of stale bread. The tricky bit is to stop him from trying to jump into the pond to hug the birds.
It's tough working all week so I try to do something nice with him at the weekend. Before I had a baby I didn't realise kids were so easily amused, ducks, walks, playdates - anything really once we're out and about.

Think I might start a new career as a baker. My nieces cake turned out quite well, she's a big girl now at 4 and requested a "Barbie pink cake". I'm still counting my lucky stars that she didn't request a rocket or a basketball. Barbie was a bit easier.
She was quite impressed with the result. Some of my sisters friends (note, college educated, grown-up accountants) asked me how come Barbie didn't melt in the oven.... seriously?? You passed exams???
Anyway I've made a Pro and Con list. Pro's are I'd be my own boss, I can work from my kitchen, baking is relaxing and I'd always have something nice to eat. Cons are, I don't actually know too much about baking and have only made four cakes in the last year, I might crack under the pressure and I'm guaranteed to gain about 4 stone in weight.
In the meantime I'll keep baking for my little boy and my niece, they appreciate me.

Back to work
The rain pelting the window this morning should have been my first clue - it was a work day...
I suppose it wasn't too bad, a good catch-up with the girls over a coffee, piles of work to keep me busy... Still, it was much nicer at home on the sofa hibernating for Christmas with my duvet and a family sized box of chocolates :-)
